Vacation and Father's Day Joy

It's been too long since I've posted, but Melanie and I have been away on a much needed vacation.  My kind parents took us to Alaska on a one week cruise.  Melanie's parents were kind enough to take our children while we were gone.  It was so refreshing to get away for a little while.  Melanie and I realized after being together without the children just how little we really get to focus on our own relationship.  Keeping our relationship strong helps us to be able to better care for our children so the recharge was great!  (It also didn't hurt that we got to see all kinds of beautiful scenery and eat some great food.)

We were gone just long enough to really start missing our kids.  We'd never been away from them for a whole week and we were glad to get back to them when the week was over.  We returned just in time to celebrate Father's Day.
I am so glad to be a dad and be able to raise my two little ones.  Each has child has their challenges and I do my best to help them through, but it has enriched my life so much to have little Whitney and little Liam as part of my family.

Whitney brought me a gift she made me at school.  You can see it shows that she's a "chip off the ol' block."  She got to paint a little piece of 2 x 4 pine and give it her own personal touch.  It was a simple but beautiful gift and Whitney was so proud of herself for making it.

I am so grateful for the chance I get to be a dad.  My life is truly full because of that privilege.

I'm so glad that you guys were able to experience Alaska. James and I went on a fishing trip to Ketchikan when I was 6 1/2 months pregnant with Jacoby. It was a trip of a lifetime.
