Signing in Church

Whitney in one of her frilly church dresses

Once a year in the church we attend, the children of the congregation share music and spoken parts for a special program.  Whitney has always been too young to participate until today's Primary Program.

The teachers had the children in Whitney's class, who are some of the youngest, go at the beginning.  Each of the little ones, who are four years old, got up and told us their names and something unique about themselves.  Whitney had a little help signing to tell the congregation, "My name is Whitney and I am always happy, but most of all I am a child of God."

Then all the children sang the song I Am a Child of God.  It was really sweet and Whitney was really happy to be able to participate even though she can't really sing or talk like the other children.  I almost cried I was so proud of my little girl for sharing a little bit about herself with everyone.  I think others were touched by it too.

I wish I had some video of her. She was so happy up there in front with the other kids. I love the way she's gaining confidence in herself. Parenting these special kids is such a great experience!
